The museum is placed where the central building of the old Almeyda fort was, the artillery placement with more pieces of all the ones built on the islands, it had more than 40 cannons at its peak. Currently, this historic site has free parking, cafeteria and a terrace with vistas to the Port plus all the added extra services. Also there is an Historic Archive and a Military Library open for the public from Monday to Friday mornings. In its halls more than three thousand pieces are displayed, which allow to make a route through Santa Cruz’s and the Canary Islands history as part of the history o Spain. Within its 25 halls a variety of flags, weapons, uniforms, paintings, decorations, scale models, dioramas, maps and cannons are exposed.
