Located in Santiago de Compostela's historic city centre, halfway between the Cathedral and the gastronomic cathedral, the "plaza de abastos" (food market). The name of the Hotel Gastronomico Arco de Mazarelos refers to the square featuring the only archaeological remains still standing of the old medieval wall that surrounded Santiago de Compostela, declared a World Heritage City by UNESCO in 1985. The Philosophy Faculty, the Geography and History Faculty and the church of Santiago University, now an important exhibition centre, are some of the most outstanding buildings in this emblematic old-town square where tourists, pilgrims, students and Compostela residents intermingle in harmony.
