About

Temporarily closed. This museum sits on the site of the excavated 12th-century Castillo de San Jorge which in the 15th-century became the first headquarters of Spain’s notorious Inquisition. The museum places in context the events which followed the Christian Reconquest of Spain, when many of the Jews who remained and converted became suspected of heresy, and subject to torture – from water-boarding to the rack - designed to extract confessions.
