Museo Nacional de Ceramica y de las Artes Suntuarias Gonzalez Marti
About
The Museo Nacional de Cerámica y de las Artes Suntuarias "González Martí" is a cultural gem in Valencia, housed in the ornate Palace of the Marqués de Dos Aguas. Originally a 15th‑century Gothic structure that later acquired Rococo and Oriental flair, the palace now showcases one of the world’s most comprehensive collections of ceramic art, ranging from ancient Greek and Iberian pieces to contemporary Spanish and Valencian masterpieces. In addition to ceramics, the museum displays textiles, furniture, clothing and paintings that narrate the evolution of decorative arts. Visitors can explore period rooms, a reconstructed Valencian kitchen, and the famed carriage patio, each reflecting the artistic sensibilities of different epochs. Opened to the public in 1954 after a long period of restoration, the museum remains a testament to Valencia’s rich cultural heritage and the enduring legacy of Manuel González Martí’s generous donation.
