Puente de Piedra
About
Puente de Piedra, also known as the Stone Bridge, is a historic landmark spanning the Ebro River in Zaragoza, Spain. Constructed between 1401 and 1440 under the direction of Gil de Menestral, the bridge has withstood floods and been rebuilt twice – first in 1659 by Felipe de Busignac and later in 1789 to reinforce the riverbank. In 1991 the bridge was christened the Bridge of Lions with the installation of four lion statues that have become an iconic symbol of the city. Today visitors can walk across the stone arches and admire the blend of medieval architecture and modern embellishments, making it a must‑visit attraction for history lovers and architecture enthusiasts alike.
