About

Saxå Bruk (‘bruk’ means ‘iron works’) is the oldest in the county of Värmland. They date back to 1540, and came into my custody in 1984. Saxå Bruk is beautifully situated by lake Saxen, between the village of Grythyttan and the small town of Filipstad. The manor house with its guest wings and small lake-side little garden folly used for alfresco dining are all meticulously restored to former glory, while renowned interior designer Ernst Kirchsteiger has transformed the old lakeside storehouse into a snug hide away. The buildings are situated in extensive parkland bordering the green of Saxå Golf Club, arguably the most beautiful 18-hole golf course in Sweden. I have decided to open up this historically important private property for visitors, and now have the pleasure to welcome You to stay in one of my historic guestrooms, all of which are individually and charmingly decorated with antiques and complying with modern hotel standard.
