Around the fortifications of the Citadel lie Sweden's oldest allotments, Citadelkolonierna. The area is also home to Sweden's only allotment museum, the Rothoffska, which was built in 1903. The cottage has been restored with architectural care for its original detail and the garden is still cultivated, now entirely ecologically. The cottage on the allotment is open from 12 noon until 4pm from May -September. The garden is open for visitors during daylight hours, all year around.
