High Chaparral
About
High Chaparral is Sweden’s premier Wild West–themed amusement park and museum, situated on the border of Värnamo and Gnosjö municipalities near Hillerstorp. The park recreates frontier life with authentic log cabins, river steamers, and a bustling “town” complete with a gold‑panning station, a miniature city, and a wide array of amusements for all ages. Throughout the main season, thrilling Wild West stunt shows featuring famous characters such as Lucky Luke, the Daltons, and Zorro entertain visitors day and night. Guests also experience a historic steam‑train ride and a paddle steamer that glide through the park’s scenic lakes. Beyond rides and shows, High Chaparral boasts a sizable museum that showcases cultural artifacts from the Wild West era, early automobiles, military equipment, and relics from the Cold War era—including a bronze statue of Lenin. The museum’s collection of over a thousand items offers a fascinating glimpse into 20th‑century history, complementing the park’s entertainment focus. Open from early‑spring through late‑summer, the park’s operating season runs from May to August, making it an ideal summer destination for families and history enthusiasts alike.
