Hulingsryd located north of Lake Hulingen offers grove-like amiljoer, lush coastal forests, dry pine forests, open pastures and wet alder. Large areas are now covered with forest, but for only a hundred years ago was characterized by the landscape of fertile meadows and open natural pastures. In the area grows several old oak pastures which originates from that period. Strandskogen is a lush environment with alder and sausage lakes. This area is dominated by alder, oak, aspen, maple and willow. The undergrowth is at times dense and almost impenetrable. The high humidity favors many lichens, mosses and fungi. There is also the kingfisher and the lesser spotted woodpecker. Silveran runs through the reserve. Here thrive perch, roach, bream and pike. If you are lucky you may even spot an otter.
