Chocobern
About
The chocolate tours start at the Prison Towner (Kaefigturm) and lead through the Old Town to the Baer Park (Baerenpark). Along the way, guests learn about Bern's chocolate history and can taste a variety of chocolates. The conching of cocoa was invented in Bern and has become the standard process for chocolate production worldwide. By being introduced to the technique of conching, guests learn the Bernese version of the melting chocolate story. At the end of the tour, however, each guest must decide for themselves whether Bern was a chocolate capital or whether this claim is just marketing. To ensure that this cultural heritage is not forgotten, the gourmet tours were developed in 2019 and since January 2020, guests have been able to visit Bern's Old Town from a sweet perspective. The guide grew up in Bern and will be delighted to lead you through this colorful chocolate story.
