About
Established in the early 1900s, Auberge de la Mère Royaume is one of the oldest restaurants in Geneva. It’s named after a mother of 14 who lodged herself in Swiss history on a dark night in 1602 when she poured a cauldron of hot soup over a soldier as the Dukes of Savoy launched a surprise attack on the independent city-state. The victory is still celebrated every year during Fete d’Escalade, scenes of which are detailed in Auberge de la Mère Royaume impressive wood panelling. Combined with soft lighting, leather armchairs, and stained glass windows, it creates a wonderfully intimate Old World atmosphere. The inventive menu changes seasonally and features a handful of French classics. Service is polished.
