La Pension de Morgins was established in 1880 by the Defago family and taken over by George and Juliette Monay in 1955. In 2012, it was acquired by the current owners, Heleen and Jan de Graaf. Jan has been a Morgins resident since attending Alpin College in 1972 and later choosing to be domiciled in Morgins. Until spring 2015, the establishment was run by tenants. Last summer and autumn, extensive renovations were carried out and the concept was changed entirely. The first thing to change was the name. From 2001 to spring 2015, the hotel was known as La Reine des Alpes. Its new name is “Chez Jan”. The formula has been changed to luxury Bed & Breakfast. The entire ground floor has been remodelled into an inviting sitting room with high and low seating. A large fireplace has been built in, and the entire building has been refurbished in chalet style by Jacques Multone (and company). The rooms have been upgraded with new curtains, linen, furniture, fresh tea and Nespresso machines. A significant change is that the grounds are now open to hotel guests only. We want guests to feel AT HOME at Chez Jan. In the mornings, we serve a very comprehensive breakfast and also bake tarts, which are served as a sweet treat during the day. In the afternoons and evenings, your host Sam prepares drinks for guests and serves light snacks. We also build our own spa/hammam for all of your relaxation needs! Everything is geared towards catering to our guests’ needs!
