The house is located near to the center of Urnäsch, where you find shops, restaurants, a post office and a train station. In the summer you can start many different hiking tours from the house and refresh yourself in the nearby river after your return! In winter time we have a cross-country trail only 20 meters from the house and another big one in the neighbouring village Gonten. Snowshoe trekking and sledging is also possible here in Urnäsch and all around Appenzell. For sledging I especially recommend the 7 km long trail from the top of the Kronberg down to Jakobsbad - not only children love it ;) I serve a nice breakfast buffet with regional and homemade products such as jam, granola and yogurt. The cheese and bread are from the village. If requested, I am happy to serve vegan and gluten free breakfast. Each room is furnished unique and tasteful. The bathrooms are new and with walk-in showers.
