Voralpen-Express
About
The Voralpen-Express, which operates an hourly service between Lucerne and St. Gallen, is the most convenient and beautiful rail link connecting central and eastern Switzerland. After a final glance back at Lake Lucerne and the Pilatus mountain the Voralpen-Express travels past the peaks of the Schwyzer Mythen and the stunning high-moorland plateau of Rothenthurm towards Rapperswil. The panoramic views of the Lake Zurich landscape are as unique as the castle itself. Travelling on through the hills of Toggenburg and across the 99 m high railway viaduct, the highest in Switzerland, you eventually reach the capital of eastern Switzerland, St. Gallen, whose abbey district is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. So climb aboard and discover the Alpine foothills by rail!
