Rhine Falls
About
Rhine Falls, Switzerland’s largest waterfall, welcomes visitors freely for 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Spanning 150 meters wide and 23 meters high, it delivers a breathtaking spectacle of 700,000 liters of water cascading over limestone boulders each second. The site features the centrally located rock (Rheinfallfelsen), accessible via boat, and the historic Schloss Laufen on the southern bank, where an entrance fee of CHF 5 per adult (CHF 3 for children 6‑15, CHF 3 for groups of 15‑29, CHF 2 for groups of 30+) grants access to the castle’s osservatory and the Historama museum. The western bank hosts the visitor centre and Schlössli Wörth, free to explore. Scenic walking trails, viewing platforms, and panoramic lifts offer unobstructed views of the falls from both sides. Seasonal events, such as winter illuminations, fondue evenings, and cultural performances, enrich the visitor experience year-round. Whether you’re marveling at the natural wonder, exploring castle architecture, or enjoying local cuisine, Rhine Falls promises an unforgettable adventure for nature lovers, families, and history enthusiasts alike.
