The Animalarium
About
Founded in 2000 on a 12‑acre estate at Ynys‑Fergi, Borth Animalarium (formerly Borth Wild Animal Kingdom) has evolved from a hobbyist collection into a conservation‑oriented zoo. The park now houses over 400 animals across 120 species, from African lions and lynx to capybaras, silver foxes and a varied array of reptiles, birds, and small mammals. Visitors can explore themed enclosures, including a therapy‑focused area where animals aid in animal‑therapy programmes. After a brief hiatus in the mid‑2010s, the zoo was purchased by artist‑therapist Dean and Tracy Tweedy, who revitalised the site with expanded exhibits and a renewed focus on animal welfare. Though modest in size, its intimate setting offers families and wildlife enthusiasts a unique opportunity to get close to a diverse array of animals on the west‑Welsh coast.
