Other outdoor activities available locally include mountain biking in Whinlatter Forest, kayaking and sailing on the lakes, rock climbing and ghyll scrambling to name but a few. The ‘not so fit’ may prefer gentle strolls around the town’s parks and shops, partaking in the café culture on Keswick’s pedestrianised market place or a trip on the launch around Derwentwater. Across the road in Fitz Park is an excellent children’s play park, the Keswick Museum with café, a bowling green and the Keswick Leisure Pool is adjacent. Shop 30 yards, pub and restaurant 100 yards.
