Derwent Hill is owned and operated by Sunderland City Council. It was one of the first local authority outdoor education centres in England and has been in operation since 1962. The centre has grown since then and we now provide a wide range of services. Derwent Hill’s combination of reputation, setting, ambience, support and friendly professional staff is unique. Our approach is based on professional informality, and we pride ourselves on our flexibility, homely atmosphere, good food and inspiring setting. Groups, families & individuals The combination of a fabulous setting, comfortable accommodation, friendly flexible staff and a range of activities to choose from makes Derwent Hill the ideal place for groups of all types for up to 108 people.
