The Coast to Coast walk passes close by and there are plenty of other good routes for walking holidays as well. Mountain bikers can head straight from the hostel and choose a challenge to suit. Historic Richmond is only 10 miles away and is well worth a visit. For something a bit different, try YHA's first camping pods at YHA Grinton.
