We share our farm with 200+ Devon Longhair Sheep. We also have 15 free range hens; they camp out in their garden, when we have guests staying, they like to be fed little bits of crumbs... kids love this. They can pick your own eggs each morning for breakfast, (I think the record is from Hen to Table, 6 minutes...) and we have 7 cats who like nothing more than to have their tummies rubbed. Please let me know if there are any pet allergies, the cats are not supposed to go into the cottages, but they can’t resist an open door or window. We have a young family of Deer who spend their mornings in our wood. Sheltering under the holly bushes or drinking from the lake, early birds will catch a wonderful glimpse of them. We also have Foxes, dozens of Hares, Ducks, Geese, Bats, a Barn Owl and a resident Buzzard, who the boys have called Buzz, he often sits on the telegraph poles and monitors the comings and goings on the farm. The lake is stocked with Carp and Brown Trout for budding anglers, or alternatively you may just want to row on the boat, or even swim in the fresh water lake... We have a glorious tree house for which children of all ages can play in. We also have a lake house which is currently being overhauled with new doors and windows. The interior will then be panelled out and ready for the log burner so that will become a restful haven to read. We are in the perfect location to explore what our unique county has to offer. Set in its own delightful south facing valley, we have stunning views across our fifty three acre organic estate and beyond. Our Grade II listed former farm welcomes you with easygoing warmth, and an enchanting blend of Georgian opulence, set amid south facing parkland with ancient woodlands, streams and a fresh water lake. We love it here at Down Farm (which is why we called our business Love North Devon) and we're sure you and your family will too.
