Birmingham Botanical Gardens
About
Birmingham Botanical Gardens occupies 15 acres of beautifully landscaped Victorian gardens in the suburb of Edgbaston, Birmingham. Open daily to the public, the site has been a celebrated horticultural attraction since 1832, boasting a rich variety of plants sourced from all corners of the globe. Visitors are greeted by four distinctive glasshouses – the Tropical, Subtropical, Mediterranean and Arid houses – each showcasing themed collections of trees, palms, cacti, and tropical foliage. Complementing the glasshouses are the historic Loudon Terrace, the picturesque rose garden, a fern garden, and the romantic bandstand that once served as a social hub. Facilities include a gift shop, tea rooms, a plant sales centre and a learning centre offering classroom and work‑shop spaces. Whether you are strolling the long pathways, exploring the diverse plant collections, or attending one of the many seasonal events, the gardens offer a tranquil escape from the bustling city.
