Turbary Woods Owl And Bird Of Prey Sanctuary
About
Turbary Woods Owl & Bird of Prey Sanctuary is a volunteer‑run wildlife haven nestled in the Whitestake woods near Preston, Lancashire. With a collection of more than 90 majestic birds of prey—including eagles, hawks, falcons, owls and vultures—the sanctuary offers daily flight displays where visitors can watch these raptors soar and even hand‑feed them in a safe, woodland setting. Admission is taken at the door each day, with tickets available for adults (£12), older adults (£9) and children over two (£7). The site opens every day from 11 am to 2 pm during winter (1 Nov–1 Apr) and 11 am to 3 pm in summer (1 Apr–1 Nov), making it a convenient family outing or bird‑watching adventure on any given day. Volunteers provide educational talks and special events such as “Falconer for the Day” or wedding receptions, and conservation work is supported through visitor donations, ensuring the sanctuary continues to care for rescued raptors and promote wildlife awareness.
