The Logierait Inn
About
Centuries old coaching Inn, and river crossing, that has had a wealth of notable visitors/customers from Queen Victoria, Robert Burns, William Wordsworth, Robert Louis Stevenson, (perhaps getting his inspiration for his book The Body Snatcher, from Logierait Churches Iron Morte Safes ), Beatrix Potter who lived just along the road, not to mention the infamous Rob Roy McGregor who stayed a night or two in the Inns Jail, booking in his first night on the 4th of June 1717, before tricking the guards and making good his escape on horseback, over the hills to West Perthshire. There were also many a criminal of the time that met their end on the Old Dule Tree of Logierait that was situated in the far corner of the Inns car park. It was in the back courtyard of the Logierait Inn where the Old Jail sat that Bonnie Price Charlie held upwards of 180 prisoners till late Summer after the battle of Preston Pans on the 21st September 1745.
