About
Golitha Falls National Nature Reserve (NNR) is an upland oak and mixed ash woodland nestled along the River Fowey in Cornwall. The reserve boasts a dramatic gorge lined with ancient oak trees that give way to a cascading waterfall at the bottom, creating a stunning natural spectacle. Rich biodiversity makes it one of Cornwall’s most important sites, home to over 120 species of bryophytes, 48 lichens, dormice, bats, salmon, sea trout and otters. The forest floor bursts into a carpet of bluebells and wood anemones each spring, while the meadows are abundant with wildflowers. With its open‑access trails, visitors can explore the lovely paths, enjoy wildlife spotting and experience the tranquil river scenery.
