Tintagel Old Post Office
About
Tintagel Old Post Office is a captivating medieval farmhouse located on Fore Street in the historic village of Tintagel, Cornwall. Dating back to the 14th century, the building has been meticulously preserved to showcase six centuries of domestic life, from its original thatched roof to its Tudor-era slate roof that has earned its nickname the "Wonky Roof". Inside, visitors wander through five distinct rooms including the charming Post Room, which houses Victorian postal equipment and early communications artefacts, and the serene Sleeping Platform, a medieval bedroom that once served as a minstrel’s gallery. Adjacent to the house is a traditional Victorian‑style cottage garden bursting with colourful shrubs, flowers, and wildlife, perfect for leisurely picnics. The site also features a small stamp shop stocked with second‑hand books, postcards and vintage stamps, adding a touch of local charm. Although currently closed for winter maintenance, the National Trust promises to reopen the house and garden in March 2026.
