The Swallows Return
About
We’ve got everything you need from a country pub near you. The Swallow's Return occupies buildings once known as North Barn, next to some important ancient track-ways which linked South Downs settlements from very early times. More recently, in the 18th century a windmill was constructed nearby and it was believed that the miller, John Oliver, used the sails of the windmill to signal smugglers. Our menus are full of hearty favourites and country pub classics, including our steak & mushroom pie and beer-battered fish and chips. Why not try some of our new seasonal dishes like Asparagus & ricotta ravioli or Roasted Salmon with vine tomatoes & pesto. We look forward to welcoming you, and we’ll ready with a well-stocked bar, including cask ales, lager, fine wines, British gin and soft drinks to suit every taste — which will taste all the better when enjoyed in our beautiful and picturesque gardens.
