West Pier
About
The West Pier is a historic 19th‑century pleasure pier located in Brighton, England, now a ruin that serves as a striking reminder of Victorian seaside culture. Although the original pier can no longer be safely accessed, the West Pier Trust has preserved its iconic ironwork and opened the West Pier Centre on the seafront – a venue for exhibitions, talks and community events that celebrate the pier’s heritage. Visitors to the Trust Centre can explore the remaining structure, learn about its history from 1866 to its decline, and enjoy monthly educational programmes on the site’s architectural significance. The site is free to enter, although special events may require booking or membership, and is open daily from 12 pm to 3 pm Friday through Monday.
