Watershed
About
Watershed is Bristol’s flagship cultural hub, blending public cinema, a vibrant café & bar, a state‑of‑the‑art media studio and flexible event spaces in a historic Grade II listed building on the Harbourside. Open every day from 12:00 to 22:00, the venue welcomes movie lovers, tech enthusiasts and families alike to explore world‑class film programmes, immersive digital art exhibitions and community events. The cinema section showcases an eclectic mix of independent, foreign and classic films, often accompanied by pre‑screening talks, Q&A sessions and special festival events such as the French Film Festival and the National Theatre Live series. The Pervasive Media Studio, in partnership with the University of the West of England and the University of Bristol, offers a creative laboratory for early‑stage start‑ups, research projects and interdisciplinary art‑tech collaborations, hosting regular talks, workshops and networking nights. The café & bar occupies the former kitchen area, serving a menu that ranges from vegan and vegetarian options to a full children’s menu and signature nachos. It is the social heart of Watershed, providing free Wi‑Fi, comfortable seating and a casual venue for pre‑and post‑movie discussions, as well as a space for live music and quiz nights. Watershed operates as a registered charity and social enterprise, funded by arts councils, the National Lottery and the community. It is fully accessible, offering gender‑neutral toilets, BSL‑aware staff and trained staff to support inclusive screenings. Whether you’re an avid cinephile, an emerging media maker or simply looking for a welcoming public space, Watershed delivers an engaging cultural experience that reflects Bristol’s creative spirit.
