Dipple Farm Camping
About
Dip into Dipple Farm and experience and enjoy the sublime beauty of the North Devon countryside. Nestled on the banks of the River Torridge our lovely farm offers superb views up and down the valley and sometimes all the way to Dartmoor in the south. We have our own wild river meadows and lovely walks along the banks of our two rivers so you can enjoy the wildlife, beautiful views, and river beaches during your stay here. Our campsite has a maximum (dependent on any prevailing Covid regulations) of 15 spacious pitches for tents including up to 5 campervans. Hundreds of bird species are waiting to be discovered in our field borders, woods, meadows, and river edges. You can explore the 27-acres of flora, fauna, and pasture from the confluence of the Dipple Water and Torridge in the south-east, along our rivers, over and through our wildflower meadows, marsh fields and woodlands back to the Top Field and farm buildings in the north-west of our smallholding. Witness the spring bluebells and lambs, the riot of summer flowers through to the majestic slide of the autumn landscape towards winter. Whenever you escape at Dipple Farm you will be able to deeply immerse yourself in nature without leaving our peaceful setting. Our smallholding at Dipple Farm is full of quirk and interest and we are proud of it. The farmhouse and West Barn were rebuilt in the 17th Century, followed by the South Barn a century later. Interestingly, parts of the house and West Barn are the remains of a 1,500-year-old external spiral staircase. Old indeed! The buildings are being slowly and carefully renovated to preserve & develop the built heritage, character and historical beauty of the place whilst bringing it back to working life. We have an ever-changing complement of livestock giving you a chance to share the land with chickens, ducks & pigs (sometimes), you can also see horses & sheep next door & (hopefully soon) goats. We are the Cochrane family – Betty, Carol, Lilly & Steve. Carol & Steve bought the farm in 2017 after moving from London. We moved to change our lifestyle and enjoy a more sustainable life growing our own food, drinking our own water and using our own wood to heat and cook with. Our motto for the farm is |Holding| Worth| Keeping| - a long-term family project. For us Dipple Farm Camping (DFC) is a natural extension of our project. We have a very green farm with lots of its own nature and are well placed to give easy access to the coast all the way from Tintagel to Ilfracombe and beyond. Nearby attractions include: Bude; Clovelly; Westward Ho!; Bideford; Barnstaple; Torrington; Dartington Glass; The Farmers Arms in our home village of Woolsery; The Hoops Inn (famous for its fish & chips) and for the kids the major attractions of The Big Sheep and The Milky Way adventure parks. You won't fail to enjoy yourselves!
