The Royal Mint Experience, opened in May 2016 at the historic Llantrisant mint site, invites visitors into the world of coin production through an interactive museum and behind‑the‑scenes tour. Guests walk along the real factory floor, watch a live minting demonstration, and see the iconic Janvier reducing machine that once forged Imperial sovereigns. The visitor centre also houses a vast collection of more than 80,000 artefacts, including Olympic medals, pattern coins and rare medals dating back to the 9th century. The highlight for many is the chance to strike a 50‑pence souvenir coin under the guidance of a Mint expert, offering a tangible memory of Britain’s numismatic heritage. The experience is suitable for families, history enthusiasts, and solo travellers looking for an educational outing in a historic setting.
