Our 16th‑century pub, tucked in the historic village of Sawbridgeworth, combines centuries of heritage with the warm hospitality of modern British cuisine. From Monday to Saturday you can enjoy a full lunch menu from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm, and a lively dinner spread from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm – with last reservations at 8:30 pm. Sundays offer a relaxed lunch from 12:00 to 6:00 pm. Visitors can also take advantage of our seasonal garden seating during the summer months or book one of the cosy Winter Dining Domes for a private dining experience featuring a deposit and hire fee. In 2024, the Hand & Crown was honoured with Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Award, underscoring its reputation for exceptional food, friendly service and a charming historic atmosphere.
