Painswick Rococo Garden
About
Painswick Rococo Garden, tucked in a hidden valley near Painswick House, is the United Kingdom’s only surviving rococo garden. Designed in the 1740s for the leisure of the English gentry, it has been lovingly restored into a vibrant tapestry of woodland, maze, follies and seasonal flower displays. Visitors wander through snowdrop‑laden groves in February, stroll the winding paths of the hidden valley, chase the maze to its heart, and enjoy the whimsical follies, glass‑roofed tea rooms and charming play area for families. The garden’s gentle layout invites solo explorers, couples and groups to pause, capture nature and experience a slice of 18th‑century leisure in the heart of the Cotswolds.
