The gardens are open Tues 1st April T/W/T/F/S until 25th October 2025. House tours are open Tues 29th April T/W/T until 25th September 2025. Please see website for confirmed tour times. The exhibition on the recent restoration is included in the price of entry for both the house and the gardens. RHS members and Gardeners World voucher holders may enter the gardens on Wednesday and Thursdays. Historic House members can call the office to book a house tour. Farringford was the main home of the renowned Victorian poet Alfred,Lord Tennyson. In this secluded spot on the Isle of Wight, the new Poet Laureate and his family sought a retreat from the clamour of London life. But while Farringford provided a tranquil domestic haven, it also attracted many of Tennyson's eminent friends, becoming a focus of intellectual and artistic activity.
