Gwrych Castle
About
Gwrych Castle, perched on a dramatic cliff along North Wales' Irish Sea coast, is a striking example of Victorian Gothic revival architecture. Built in the 1820s, the castle was restored by the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust and now welcomes visitors to its expansive 240‑acre grounds, including picturesque gardens, a historic chapel and a tall stone arch. The site gained international fame as the primary filming location for ITV’s hit reality series ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ during 2020 and 2021, and a dedicated exhibition offers a behind‑the‑scenes look at the production. A self‑guided visitor route takes guests through the castle ruins, gardens and the temporary exhibition space, with QR‑code signage and 10 photo‑opportunities encouraging social sharing. The estate is dog‑friendly and offers a café, shop and temporary toilets, and a small lodge for overnight stays.
