Draycote Water
About
Draycote Water is a 240‑hectare reservoir and country park situated just south of Rugby in Warwickshire, England. It was constructed between 1967 and 1969 and now supplies drinking water to the surrounding towns of Rugby and Coventry. Visitors can explore a 5‑mile perimeter trail that circles the reservoir, a perfect setting for walking, cycling, and birdwatching. The park also hosts a dedicated bird hide, fishing facilities for brown and rainbow trout, and a sailing club that offers dinghy sailing and windsurfing. The visitor centre, situated in the park’s northern corner, provides a small shop, changing rooms, and information for families and school groups. Although the reservoir is open to the public daily (except Christmas Day), swimming is prohibited for safety reasons. A modest parking charge of £3.50 for all day (with a 15‑minute free period) applies. Overall, Draycote Water offers a versatile, family‑friendly escape for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
