Gosford Forest Park
About
Gosford Forest Park is a sprawling 240‑hectare natural oasis just seven miles from Armagh City, offering visitors a seamless blend of woodland walks, mountain biking trails, horse‑riding routes and an array of family‑friendly activities. The park, originally the Gosford Demesne forest estate, became the first conservation forest in Northern Ireland in 1986 and has since grown into a year‑round destination for nature lovers, adventure seekers and families alike. A signature highlight is the herd of red deer that roam freely across the park’s open parkland, providing a rare chance to see mainland wildlife up close. Complementing the wildlife experience is a 3‑km woodland play area equipped with five uniquely designed superstructures, perfect for children’s exploration. Beyond the play area, visitors can traverse 16 km of multi‑use trails suitable for walking, running, cycling and horse‑riding, as well as challenge themselves on the challenging “All Out Trekking” off‑road bucket‑by‑bike or Terrain Hopper experiences. The park also hosts the impressive Gosford Castle, a historical landmark that adds a touch of cultural heritage to the natural backdrop. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker, a family seeking a scenic day out, or a cyclist craving an off‑road adventure, Gosford Forest Park delivers a well‑rounded outdoor experience with free forest access and a range of paid camping, caravan and glamping options to suit all budgets.
