Peace Bridge
About
The Peace Bridge is a striking cable-stayed structure that gracefully arcs across the River Foyle in Derry, Northern Ireland, linking the historic city centre with the bustling Waterside district. Completed in 2011, the bridge’s elegant curved walkway spans 235 metres, offering panoramic views of the surrounding cityscape and a unique perspective on the city’s maritime heritage. Designed by AECOM and Wilkinson Eyre Architects, the bridge was conceived as a symbol of reconciliation, physically uniting the predominantly unionist east bank with the largely nationalist west side. Whether you’re strolling for a quick jaunt or taking a leisurely cycle, the bridge’s smooth stone steps and open railing make it an accessible and welcoming landmark for visitors of all ages.
