Scole Inn Hotel
About
The Scole Inn Hotel is a historic 17th-century coaching inn located in the village of Scole, near Diss, on the Norfolk–Suffolk border. Built in 1655 for John Peck, a Norwich wool merchant, it is a Grade I listed building known for its distinctive Dutch gables, hand-carved staircase, and hand-painted sundial. Once a prominent stop on the Roman Pye Road, it has long been considered one of England’s most lavish inns of its kind. The hotel retains many original features, including open fireplaces and luxurious four-poster beds. Guests can enjoy a blend of historical charm with modern amenities, as all rooms come with private bathrooms. The bar features two impressive fireplaces, believed to be the largest in East Anglia, and offers cask-conditioned ales and fine wines. Meals are served in both the bar and restaurant areas. Located about 2 miles from the market town of Diss, The Scole Inn is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding areas of Norfolk and Suffolk. Local attractions i
