Clynelish Distillery
About
Clynelish Distillery, located on the A9 in the scenic coastal town of Brora, Sutherland, is one of Johnnie Walker’s flagship distilleries in the Scottish Highlands. Founded in 1967 on the historic site of a 19th‑century distillery that dates back to 1819, the modern facility draws water from the pure Clynemilton burn, giving its whiskies a distinctive salty‑honey flavour that has earned worldwide acclaim. Today Clynelish produces a range of premium single‑malt expressions—such as the celebrated 14‑, 21‑, 30‑ and 40‑year‑old products—as well as the Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve, their flagship blend. Visitors can tour the three stills, watch fermentation in progress, and learn about the cask‑roasting process before sampling a selection of house‑made whiskies in the visitor centre’s tasting room.
