The Kelpies & The Helix
About
The Helix, Home of The Kelpies, is a sprawling 350‑hectare park that invites visitors to experience Scotland’s most iconic equine sculptures, standing 30 metres high and weighing over 300 tonnes each. Set against the Forth & Clyde Canal and the River Carron, the park offers a blend of landscaped gardens, woodland, wetlands, a lagoon with a cosy café, and an adventure play area, making it a family‑friendly destination for all ages. At the heart of the park lies the Visitor Centre, which houses a gift shop, café, and dedicated exhibition space that traces the history, design, and cultural significance of the Kelpies. Guests can also book a guided tour—available daily at 10:30, 11:30, 13:30, 14:30, and 15:30 (April‑October) or 10:30, 12:30, and 14:30 (November‑March)—and enjoy a 25‑minute walk inside the sculptural tour through the steel‑clad hulls. Additional group and school tours are available, with special rates for pupils priced at £3.50 each. In addition to the spectacular sculptures, The Helix offers extensive walking and cycling routes, a splash‑play area, a lagoon for water activities, and a green‑shop where visitors can purchase Kelpies‑themed merchandise. The park’s commitment to sustainability is recognised with a Green Tourism Gold award, reflecting its dedication to eco‑friendly practices and community engagement. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply seeking a unique cultural experience, The Helix delivers unforgettable moments—from the awe‑inspiring vistas of the Kelpies to the welcoming hospitality of the Visitor Centre and beyond.
