Walk in the footsteps of the Anglo-Saxons and Normans and learn the history of 1066 and the Norman Conquest with local historian and storyteller, Heather Wheeler. This 2 - 3 hour trip begins by looking at Caldbec Hill where the Anglo-Saxons camped on the night before the battle. We then take a look at St Mary's church founded in 1115 before entering Battle Abbey and walking the perimeter of the Battle of Hastings battlefield. Throughout the tour your guide will tell the complete story of 1066 from the causes to what happened in the days and months after the battle. After viewing the spot where Harold fell the trip ends with a look at the Abbey ruins.
