About

The Almonry, Historic House and Gardens are open Monday to Saturday, 11am-2pm, with free entry. Once home to the Abbey’s almoner, the beautifully restored Almonry now offers exhibitions, a town model, and self-guided tours showcasing its rich history. The award-winning gardens provide a tranquil retreat from the bustling High Street, perfect for relaxing or wandering. Explore Battle’s heritage through walking trails, with leaflets available at the Tourist Information Point in the Almonry. The Sculpture Trail features site-specific art and leads you along paths, gardens and to hidden corners of the town that you might otherwise miss. The Battle Museum of Local History is also located within the Almonry grounds. Pictured: Elliott Brotherton’s hand-carved stone orb in the Almonry Garden, bearing Battle’s motto ‘Per Bellum Patria’ (‘through war a nation’), a reminder of the town’s historical significance.
