About
The National War Museum is housed within the historic walls of Edinburgh Castle, offering visitors a comprehensive journey through Scotland’s military history from the 15th century to the present day. Entry is free, though a paid ticket is required for access to the castle itself. The museum operates daily from 9:45 am to 5:45 pm (10:45 am to 4:45 pm during the winter months) and is closed on Christmas Day and on Boxing Day. Visitors can explore over 400 years of conflict through a rich collection of military objects, artwork, and personal stories, and can also view the current exhibition “Maps: Memories from the Second World War,” which showcases immersive displays of wartime cartography and personal narratives.
