About

We provide guided historical tours by a 'Real Roman', Quintus Valerius Maximus, to the Antonine Wall and Hadrian's Wall. The Antonine Wall, which was made of turf, stretched over 37 miles across lowland Scotland from the River Forth in the east to the River Clyde in the West. The Wall was built by Emperor Antoninus Pius and formed the north-west frontier of The Roman Empire from around AD 142 - 160s. Due to popular demand we have decided to expand our range of tours down to Hadrian's Wall. Hadrian's Wall was a defensive fortification in Roman Britain, begun in AD 122 during the rule of Emperor Hadrian. Hadrian's Wall extended west for 73 miles from Segedunum at Wallsend on the River Tyne, via Carlisle to the shore of the Solway Firth. We currently offer scheduled tours from April to September and a tailor-made tour option which is available all year round. We like to keep the groups small and personal and limit numbers to a maximum of six people for the full day tour and 20 for the walking tour. All tours will be conducted in English with some Latin terminology thrown in.
