The Bridge Inn
About
The Bridge Inn at Ratho is situated on the banks of The Union Canal, 7 miles to the west of Edinburgh in the picturesque village of Ratho. Graham and Rachel Bucknall took over the Bridge Inn in 2010 and have undertaken an extensive refurbishment project to maximise the space and to create a beautiful restaurant overlooking the canal, a terrace over the water, as well as four beautiful bedrooms and a cosy fire lit bar.We pride ourselves on not just producing great food, but also on working with our suppliers to give you the best of Scottish produce. Our menu is put together by our Head Chef Ben and changes with the seasons. We always feature our ever popular pub favourites, like fresh haddock with hand-cut chips or our pie of the week. The restaurant features venison, hake, pigeon, salmon and hand-dived scallops alongside our beautiful 35-day hung beef. In season we have locally-shot game.We grow and rear much of our own produce, and our Head Chef Ben and our gardener Charlie work together to put the freshest food on your plate - often the same day it was picked. Our walled garden, 200 yards along the canal towpath, produces the freshest seasonal vegetables throughout the year. We grow our own carrots, potatoes, leeks, spinach, cabbages, salad leaves and much more. Our own apples and rhubarb are used in our crumble - even our own nettles, delicious in our homemade nettle soup.We breed our own saddleback pigs, who live outside in the fresh air and are looked after by all the family - we know that a happy pig produces the tastiest meat. You will regularly find our menus featuring pork loin, fillet, belly, sausages and crackling, all from our own pigs.
