Welsh Wildlife Centre
About
**Under New Management for 2015** The Welsh Wildlife Centre is an award winning Visitor Centre situated in the beautiful Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve. The site is managed by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales and all profits from the Centre go towards the conservation work carried out in the region by the Trust. The Centre includes our hugely popular Glasshouse Cafe & Gift Shop, and all three floors are fully accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Toilets, baby changing facilities and children's activities are also available. During the school holidays and at weekends, we also run a huge array of events for adults, children and families. You can also pick up a copy of our guidebook, hire binoculars so you can discover the wonders of the surrounding nature reserve or children can also hire an Adventure Backpack containing lots of different and fun activities to explore the site. Out on the reserve, there are six bird hides and these look out over the multiple habitats that occur at Teifi Marshes. Our Explorer Trail is completely accessible for wheelchairs, as is the first stretch of our Wetland Trail which forms part of cycle route 82 running between Cilgerran and Cardigan along a disused railway line reclaimed by nature! Other trails on our reserve include the beautiful Woodland Trail which is covered with bluebells in spring, and the more adventurous and challenging Gorge Trail with stunning scenery of the River Teifi. Popular wildlife that can be seen on the reserve include otters, kingfishers, deer and between April and September, Asian water buffalo graze the site. The reserve is home to the second largest reed bed in Wales, and this is a vital habitat for many bird species such as various types of warblers including the elusive cettis warbler and a large population of water rails. You'll be amazed at what you can find around the Visitor Centre also! Out on our meadow, you will find Helyg - our giant willow badger and in front of the Centre, we have a living willow maze, deer sculpture and further along a children's play area. Fancy staying on the reserve overnight once all the visitors have gone? You can do that too! Book a stay at our onsite holiday accommodation, Oak Tree Cottage - the perfect retreat for couples of a family of four! There's plenty to see and do at the Welsh Wildlife Centre so be sure to pay us a visit if you are in the area!
