Summerlee – Museum of Scottish Industrial Life is an immersive living museum that brings the industrial heritage of North Lanarkshire to life over 22 acres of historic site. The museum is housed in the former Hydrocon Crane factory building and showcases a rich collection of steam locomotives, vintage tramcars, and interactive displays that illustrate the region’s mining and engineering legacy. Visitors can stroll along the reconstructed Miners’ Row, explore the preserved Iron Works, and enjoy a short operating tram ride that retraces the original streetcar line of the 20th century.
