Lyle Hill
About
Lyle Hill, rising to 426 ft (130 m) in the West End of Greenock, Inverclyde, is a beloved lookout for both locals and visitors. The hill is easily reached via the historic Lyle Road, a winding drive that was opened in 1880 and now serves as a scenic route to the summit. At the top you find a free‑to‑visit beacon, lit on special occasions, and the Free French Memorial in the shape of a Cross of Lorraine. From the viewpoint you can admire sweeping panoramas of the Firth of Clyde, the Cowal hills, Gourock and even the distant island of Arran on clear days. The site is part of the Clyde–Muirshiel Regional Park and offers an easy walk that is suitable for families, history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
