Epping Museum

Epping Museum is home not only to 'that' bright yellow train alongside the Central Line tracks as you approach Epping station, but also the signal cabin situated behind it. Come and sit at the controls of a genuine Tube Train! On display downstairs, the cabin has a wide range of heritage London Underground signals, signage and general exhibits. But the real jewel in the crown is upstairs, directly overlooking Central Line trains as they clatter past. Visitors can interact with an original London Transport signal frame complete with 47 working levers and illuminated track diagram. Throw the levers to change the points and signals which control the simulated movement of trains in and out of Epping, back in the days when it had carriage sidings, a goods yard and steam train sheds! Our volunteers will explain how it all works, and then it's over to you to be the signalman in charge of trains!
