Rye Pottery is a contemporary design-led company in Sussex, England. Bridging the gap between studio & industry, we occupy an increasingly rare position as a small British production pottery. We’re renowned for our beautiful hand-made homewares & unique decorative accessories, with countless awards & pieces held in galleries & design collections around the world. Hand-made & painted in Sussex since 1793, every single one of our pots goes through a minimum of 10 hand processes before it is finished. Our designs feature an unusual & time-consuming 17th Century decorating technique, known as Faience, Majolica or Delft. We call it English Delftware. Come and see us in our shop at the bottom of Mermaid Street. Watch our skilled decorators at work & discover a selection of one-offs, samples & "seconds" alongside hand-painted kitchen & bathroom tiles, stylish homewares, charming figures based on English Animals & Birds, plus Chaucer's Canterbury Tales & the 1066 Battle of Hastings.
